Certified for explosive atmospheres

Certified under the ATEX directive for Europe and under UKCA EX for the UK. These standards cover equipment approved for use in explosive atmospheres — the certification applies to the complete assembly, not the motor block alone.

Why air-operated is the safe option

Spillrite explosion-proof vacuums are safe in hazardous situations as part of a combustible dust control program, and suit most flammable and combustible waste. The vacuums do not arc, spark or generate heat through normal operation.

Because there is no motor and no electrical path, a compressed-air vacuum carries the highest safety rating and is intrinsically safe.

How the unit is built

Numbered diagram of the SPAV air vacuum: power head, tank, hose, wand, floor tool
Numbered components, described below.
  1. Pneumatic power head — silenced with a mild steel shroud. Internal baffles keep the sound signature very low without affecting the performance of the single or twin venturis.
  2. Stainless steel tank — useful across many industries, including food.
  3. Anti-static explosion-proof suction hose — supplied with every unit.
  4. Floor tool — 450 mm wide squeegee.
  5. Wand — chromed steel, two piece, 38 mm.
  6. Tipping tank — with a grounding chain.
  7. Wet or dry — the unit pictured can be configured either way.

The pneumatic power head is attached by stainless steel bolts to a powder-coated mild steel plate, which in turn attaches to the stainless steel tank.

Built for continuous recovery

Twin float valves on the vacuum lid that shut the unit off when the tank is full
Auto shut-off for wet recovery
Brass fittings and ball valves on the air supply line
Solid fittings and valves

The twin venturis on the 48, 100 and 180 CFM models give high power and high air flow in both wet and dry work. The stainless tank version can be configured as an explosion-proof model with anti-static hose and anti-static fittings, which suits fuels, oils, diesel, grains, explosive dust and flour.
